Server databases and system account

Created the three server databases (auth, world, characters) with a dedicated MySQL user restricted to them, a shell-less system account to run the server, and the data directory (official maps + frFR dbc).

MySQL 8.4 databases

  • acore_auth, acore_world, acore_characters in utf8mb4_unicode_ci.
  • Dedicated acore user, privileges limited to these three databases, random 40-character password readable only by the server account.

Runtime

  • azeroth system account with no shell or home directory: the server never runs as root.

Data

  • Data directory assembled with links: maps, vmaps, mmaps, Cameras from the official v20.0 package, dbc extracted from the French client (numeric values identical to the official dbc, French texts).

Fix

  • A leftover MySQL client config file from the previous version forced a deleted user and overrode credentials: it was removed.
