Reading how dangerous a place is, like a player looking at name colours
Level 2 tauren died to level 6-7 cougars and stalkers prowling near the plainstriders they hunted, and two others, lost in Feralas, never made it back. The brain now estimates a place's danger from the hostile monsters found there: it avoids spots that are too dangerous and goes home when lost.

Findings
- Baina, level 2 warrior, attacked by flatland cougars and prairie stalkers (level 6-7) patrolling near her quest's plainstriders; Heroic Strike refused for lack of rage, dead within seconds, several times.
- Ransha and Rukree, gone to Feralas before the previous fix: the “region too dangerous” reflex never fired, because the DBC zone level (
area_level) is not filled everywhere.
Local danger
LocalDanger: median level of hostile monsters (excluding critters and NPCs) with a spawn point within a given radius, read from the spatial index; cached per spawn point.
- Quest objectives and hunting: a spawn point whose hostile neighbours (40 m) have a median level above own + 3 is avoided, even if the target itself is weak.
- Lost: if the median level within 150 m exceeds own by more than 8, hearthstone (checked every 30 s).
- Dead in such a place: rather than resurrecting there to die again, go through the graveyard's spirit healer, then hearthstone.
