Stronger monitoring: a detailed report for every death, an analysis every 5 minutes

To cut deaths as much as possible, every death of an autonomous player now produces a full report: killer, attackers, fight duration, health and mana at the start, time since the last resurrection, fleeing, gear, ammo, and the character's last fifteen decisions. An automatic analysis sorts them by cause every 5 minutes.

Why

The 20-minute reviews gave totals (86 to 99 deaths per window) but not the reason for each death. The latest sample shows that 54 of 96 deaths happen one-on-one against a monster of the same level or one above, a fight a player almost never loses: each lost fight must be seen from the inside.

The death report

One JSON line per death (freewill-deaths.jsonl): class, race, level, place, money; the killer (level, rank, remaining health, distance to its home); the list of attackers and their maximum; fight duration; health and mana at the start of the fight; activity before the fight; seconds since the last resurrection; ongoing flight; broken pieces; hunter ammo and pet; the last fifteen decisions, always kept even without debug mode.

Automatic analysis

freewill-deaths.timer runs an analysis over 30 minutes every 5 minutes, compared with the previous window:

  • causes (death after resurrection, adds, stronger, rare or elite killer, fight started wounded, death while fleeing, broken gear, hunter without arrows, death on the way);
  • breakdown by class, zone, level, killer, activity;
  • one recent example per cause, with its last decisions.

The summary is written to freewill-deaths-summary.txt. The AI's reviews go from 20 to 10 minutes.

First measured effect of the previous batch

No death caused by a rare in the last window (vs 12): spotting rares on sight works.
