The death spiral: broken gear and empty quivers
Why did some keep dying more and more? Each death wears gear by 10 %; Crashtroller was down to an axe, a bow and armour at zero durability, without a single arrow, with 4 silver. And 5 of 12 hunters had no ammo left. Arrows and repairs become emergencies, broken pieces are replaced by what is left in the bag, and objects guarded by a monster too strong are avoided.

Finding
- Crashtroller: 8 deaths in 20 minutes against Warlord Kolkanis (level 9 rare) guarding a quest object. Axe, bow, gloves, boots, bracers, belt: durability 0. No arrows. His shots refused in melee (“too close”) and Raptor Strike refused for lack of a valid weapon.
- Across the population: 5 of 12 hunters without ammo, 3 characters with a broken weapon.
- Cause: ammo purchase went to the nearest vendor (often an armorer that sells none), one visit every 4 minutes, and 40 % of the budget at most.
Fixes
- Emergencies: broken main or ranged weapon, or fewer than 100 projectiles: vendor trip without delay.
- The right vendor: for ammo, find a vendor whose stock really contains the projectile matching the weapon (arrows for bows and crossbows, bullets for guns), up to 80 % of the purse.
- Broken pieces: a worn piece at zero durability counts as nothing; a spare piece from the bag (like Crashtroller's Primitive Club) replaces it.
- Minimum range: shots requiring distance are no longer attempted in melee (wasted cooldowns).
- Guards too strong: an object within 15 m of a rare, elite or two-levels-higher monster is skipped.
