Following roads, like a traveller
On long trips, autonomous players now prefer roads: a road map, derived from terrain textures, makes off-road ground costlier in path computation. Road following is measured for all autonomous players.

Why
A human crossing a region follows paths: they skirt monster camps and lead to villages. The shortest path on the navigation mesh cut straight through everything.
How
- Roads are extracted from terrain textures (dirt tracks, cobblestones) and stored as per-tile grids (367 tiles loaded across Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms and Outland).
- In the “player” path filter, off-road ground costs more on long trips: the computed path joins the road, follows it, then leaves it near the destination.
- A road-following report is logged every 5 minutes for all autonomous players.
