Crashtroller: a hunter played by the guides

While Crashtroller danced and kept saying a troll must be patient, hunter best practices were gathered from levelling guides. He now follows a Beast Mastery talent plan, opens with his pet, manages aspects, uses Berserking, keeps ammo stocked, pulls one monster at a time and travels far to train.

The study break: during the research, Crashtroller danced on the spot and said every 10 seconds, in true troll fashion, that he was studying the hunter's art and one must be patient, mon.

What the guides say (Icy Veins, Wowhead, Warcraft Tavern, Highground) and what was programmed:

  • Talents: Beast Mastery, the recommended levelling spec, following the guides' point-by-point order instead of filling the tree row by row.
  • Opening: the pet goes first and takes aggro; the hunter only shoots a second or two later.
  • Aspects: Viper when mana runs low, back to Hawk once full, Cheetah for long trips out of combat.
  • Berserking: the troll racial fires against several foes, an elite, or when health drops.
  • Ammo: always a good stock.
  • One monster at a time: no target with another monster within 20 m.
  • Emergencies: Disengage and Deterrence when available.
  • Training: when money was short at level-up, the class trainer was not revisited before the next level; Crashtroller never learned Aspect of the Hawk that way. He now retries, and travels to the capital if needed.
  • Weapons: at a vendor he buys a better weapon (bow first) when he can afford it.
  • Pet: class quests are picked up and done first, even far away. A taming rod emptied by interrupted attempts makes him abandon and retake the quest to get a fresh one.
  • Hearthstone: used when the destination is right next to his home.
