Showcase group: truly playing together

The showcase group scatters less: shared quests, NPC visits only near the leader, healer staying with the tank and a leader who waits for members on their way. On the test server, time spent near the leader rises from 30% to 70%.

Finding

In production, the showcase group spent most of its time scattered: one member at the far end of the zone turning in its own quest, another several kilometres away dying while trying to reach the leader.

Changes
  • NPC visits: when the leader stops at an NPC, members only turn in, pick up or trade within 40 metres of him.
  • Healer: in combat, the healer stays with the tank and only heals those near it.
  • Shared quests: members share their current quests and accept the others'.
  • Waiting: the leader waits for distant members genuinely on their way, up to six minutes, instead of carrying on alone.
  • Leader ahead: a leader ahead of the shared pace keeps leading the group's quests, without gaining experience.
Measurement

On the test server, with the five members cloned: time within 40 metres of the leader from 30% to 70%, group deaths from four to zero. A new indicator now tracks the group's cohesion and quests turned in per hour in production. Next step: shared breaks and sharing limited to quests in the leader's zone.
