Autonomous players: back home, and quest items finally picked up

Players lost in enemy territory head home instead of dying to guards. Those with full bags throw away a worthless item to keep the quest item, so they no longer kill hundreds of monsters for nothing.

  • Enemy territory: about forty Alliance characters had ended up in Durotar and Orgrimmar, where guards killed them repeatedly (up to 7 deaths in 15 minutes). A player in an opposite-faction zone now goes home with their hearthstone; if they cannot (hearthstone on cooldown, or ghost), they are brought back to their home point. Right after the restart: 10 hearthstone returns and 10 repatriations.
  • Quest items: for many players the second item of a quest never came (8 out of 8 boar snouts, but no flank). A trace added to looting showed why: the backpack was full. Like a human, the player now throws away the least valuable item (a grey item first; never a quest item, the hearthstone or something equipped) and takes the quest item.
  • Quest progress: the 'no progress in 25 minutes, give up' rule now survives restarts.
