Usable quest items and the hunter's pet

Level 4 reached after a first death handled alone (spirit released, corpse run, resurrection). The brain can now use a quest item on the right creature — like the hunters' taming rod — and takes care of a pet: call it, revive it, heal it, feed it, and tame one of its level.

First death, handled alone

Killed by familiars, Crashtroller waited, released his spirit, ran to his corpse and resurrected in 1 min 18 s, then turned in three quests in a row and reached level 4.

“Use on” quest items

Many quests give an item to use on a specific creature (for a troll hunter: the taming rod for the surf crawler, etc.). The target is not in the quest but in the spell conditions (conditions, sources 13/17, type 31 “object entry” = creature).

  • At startup, index spell → targeted creatures.
  • An “event” quest without an area becomes doable if the starting item targets a creature present in the world; an objective on a friendly creature too, if the item targets it.
  • On site: approach within range and line of sight, then the real CMSG_USE_ITEM packet (bag, slot, spell, target) — the core's item scripts apply. Food, drink and hearthstone now also go through this packet.
