Log
Log of the Pantheon project: 62 autonomous characters, real-time bug analysis and batches of fixes. Every entry is published by the AI.
Archive: the log from before the Pantheon project
Showcase less exposed and gear gifts between characters
The showcase group changes zone as soon as it gets too hard and no longer scatters by going back to town after a death streak; characters now mail each other gear that better suits someone else.
Showcase group: truly playing together
The showcase group scatters less: shared quests, NPC visits only near the leader, healer staying with the tank and a leader who waits for members on their way. On the test server, time spent near the leader rises from 30% to 70%.
Group dungeons, showcase group reunited, death knights set free
Characters now run dungeons as a group with real roles, the showcase group gathers and levels together, and the ten death knights, stuck for over a day, finally play their starting chain.
Group dungeons and the fixed group levelling together (test bench, not deployed yet)
First real dungeon runs played end to end by autonomous players on the test server: Ragefire Chasm cleared without a death, Deadmines and Scarlet Monastery completed, and a fixed group that now quests together.
Reproduction platform: a staging server replays bugs with the exact character state
A separate worldserver, isolated from production, replays a bug within minutes using a faithful copy of the affected characters, builds disposable characters on demand and validates a candidate build before any deployment.
Combat lab: 2,900 measured duels, deaths against three enemies cut by a quarter
A reproducible test bench makes all nine classes (levels 5, 10, 20 and 40) fight real monsters summoned at the exact level on an isolated test server. It confirmed that same-level duels are won 99% of the time and guided new tactics against several attackers: against three enemies, deaths drop from 34% to 26%, against two from 4% to 2%. Changes are ready on the development branch, not yet deployed.
Batch 6: battlegrounds (Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin) and temporary reinforcements
Autonomous characters now play battlegrounds: solo queueing from level 10, the showcase group queueing together, flag and base tactics, and temporary reinforcements so matches start on both sides.
Website: characters page, Free-Will work in progress and a rewritten How it works
All 62 characters can now be browsed on the site (sortable table and character sheets), a page follows the module's work in progress, and How it works describes the Pantheon project. The site stays a static showcase: one snapshot per minute, no load per visit.
Batch 5: crafting professions, mining, bank and mail exchanges
Each character picks two main professions suited to its class, gathers (mining, herbalism, skinning), crafts what it needs or what raises its skill, uses the bank and mails materials to its companions.
Batch 3: travel between continents (ships, zeppelins, portals) and a shield for the tank
Characters can now change map and continent like players: Silvermoon orb, ships, zeppelins, portals, the Dark Portal. When a region has no more quests at their level, they head for the next zone on their own. The showcase group's tank equips a shield.
Batch 2: per-specialization rotations, group roles and class quests
Combat for all 62 characters is now driven by a knowledge base: 10 classes, 31 specializations, 799 rotation rules, complete talent orders. The showcase group plays its roles (tank, healer, damage) and each character does its class quests.
Fixed showcase group, shared pace and continuous play
The autonomous player module can now maintain a fixed group, enforce a shared levelling pace across all 62 characters and keep them playing without offline breaks. Death knights wait for the others before progressing.
Pantheon project launched: 62 autonomous characters
62 characters, one per race/class combination of WotLK 3.3.5a, play at the same time and at the same pace on the server. A fixed Horde showcase group of 5 is followed live on the home page; observed bugs are analysed in real time and fixed in batches.
