The server log from before the Pantheon project, kept read-only. No new entry is added to it.
Auto mode: the player decides
New rules: the server no longer plays a character whose player is logged off, and auto mode starts disabled at every login. The auto mode spell now opens a window where you choose what your character does.
A pet that fights, quests again, and a spell to hand your character to the server
Crashtroller's boar stayed passive and never fought: that is fixed. Crashtroller is questing again, saving up for a better bow and reacting faster. New: every character gets a spell that turns automatic mode on or off.
Crashtroller rests at the Orgrimmar inn
After a morning of fixes and tests, Crashtroller heads back to the Orgrimmar inn to rest. Once next to the innkeeper, he lies down and does nothing else.
Autonomous players: first aid and fishing
Autonomous players learn first aid and fishing. They make bandages from the cloth they loot and bandage themselves after a fight. Now and then they take out their rod by the water, watch for a bite and strike.
Autonomous players: guilds and herbalism
Autonomous players now have a gathering profession (herbalism), and most belong to one of the realm's six guilds, with greetings and congratulations in guild chat.
Autonomous players: they team up spontaneously
Two solo autonomous players on the same quest in the same spot sometimes offer to group: a short message, an invite, help in combat, then each goes their way with a thank-you once the quest is done.
Autonomous players: they answer when spoken to
A real player can now greet, whisper or talk to an autonomous player, who answers with an emote or a short message after reading and typing time, in French or English.
Three hundred autonomous players, a minute-by-minute pulse
The realm goes from 100 to 300 autonomous players: 150 for the Alliance, 150 for the Horde. Maps are now updated on 4 threads. Monitoring becomes minute by minute: every minute, a pulse line (deaths, resurrections, flights, quests, death streaks, killers) and a full death analysis. And resurrection happens further from monsters.
"Brain progress" chart on the home page
A chart tracks over time how the virtual players perform: deaths, quests, stuck events, kills per death and average level, over 1 h, 6 h, 24 h, 7 d or 30 d.
Panel: total deaths of virtual players
The "AI status" panel shows the total number of deaths across all virtual players, from mod-free-will's persistent statistics.
mod-free-will now measures what virtual players cost
The module counts the CPU time spent on virtual players and the memory added since world startup; the "AI status" panel shows these values.
Panel: virtual player count and resource usage
The "AI status" panel shows how many virtual players are online in autogaming and the share of the server's CPU and memory they use.
"AI status" panel: Crashtroller's activity live
The panel now shows the character played by the server: level, zone, current activity and immediate goal, refreshed every minute.
Travelling like a player: gryphons, hippogryphs and portals
Anticipation: around level 10, everyone will have to leave their starting zone, and some are islands (Teldrassil, Azuremyst Isle). Autonomous players can now discover flight points by talking to flight masters, take a multi-hop flight to a known flight point, and use a portal when the destination cannot be reached on foot.
One hundred autonomous players: the Alliance arrives, the Horde grows
95 new characters join the realm, played by the server: 50 for the Alliance (humans, dwarves, night elves, gnomes, draenei) and 45 more for the Horde (orcs, undead, tauren, trolls, blood elves). With the first five, 100 autonomous players, 10 warriors and 10 priests per faction so the Dungeon Finder can form complete groups.
Dungeons: Dungeon Finder, roles and group life for autonomous players
Autonomous players can now queue for the core's Dungeon Finder from level 15, accept the proposed group, play their role in the instance (tank, healer, damage), roll on loot, get resurrected or run back as a ghost after a wipe, then leave. They also accept a human player's invitation and follow them to help.
Usable quest items and the hunter's pet
Level 4 reached after a first death handled alone (spirit released, corpse run, resurrection). The brain can now use a quest item on the right creature — like the hunters' taming rod — and takes care of a pet: call it, revive it, heal it, feed it, and tame one of its level.
Four new autonomous players: Crashtroller's future dungeon group
Dungeons and raids require a group. Four Horde characters, created through a real client's path, are now played by the server: Tarokh (tauren warrior, future tank), Velyssa (undead priestess, healing), Grazhak (orc warlock) and Morvane (undead mage). Each levels alone in their starting zone.
mod-free-will: Crashtroller becomes an autonomous player run by the server
New module written from scratch on the official core: the server itself logs Crashtroller into a client-less session and plays him like a human — quests, combat, loot, resting, death, vendor, class trainer, talents, gear — with no cheating.
